As discussed elsewhere (and in beginner guides such as this one), starting a team from scratch can be quite an arduous process, requiring patience to get it right.

It is often quicker and more enjoyable - and certainly more competitive - to take over a team that has seen better days, helping them to relive (or even better!) their former glories. I rejoined in S43 and did exactly this - although I don't think I've hit the heights of the old Animal Racing yet.

So, if you are new, I trawled through the available teams to find some possible sleeping giants that are currently in Division 3 and worthy of your consideration. At the moment, there is only 1:
- Pagani

...but the following teams are likely to get relegated due to inactivity at the end of this season, so keep an eye on:
- My Sparrowhawk Racing
- JV Racing and
- Wanda GPX

To apply, go to Your Name -> Career and then Job Centre. Unless you are a returning player, you will need to choose a team in Division 3. You can change the Team Name in
Competition Management.

I appreciate this doesn't cover much on why you should do this. I will try to update the Guide with a section on this when I can.

@Philip - I think you go through and delete inactive teams to free up space in Division 3. When I re-started there were a lot more usable teams (basically any team that doesn't have an HQ1). Can we try to ensure these are protected from deletion?

@Everyone else - have I got anything wrong above? And does it take 24hrs to get appointed? Perhaps Frank could remove this wait as it's another delay before you get into the really interesting parts of the game.

Great post!

Although I am a sucker for punishment and went from scratch - BUT, I have prior knowledge to tap in to.

Another to potentially add to the list of fallen giants, that might be more of a challenge could be Radiation - I am sure they used to be a high flying team. I was tempted myself before I went for a fresh new team.

Thanks Matteo - 1hr seems better.

Radiation have contracts but only HQ1 and no staff, so not on my recommended list. Happy to discuss if suppliers make a team more worthy of takeover...

That's all good - I just remember the name from long ago, so got a bit nostalgic! :D Taking them on essentially is as bad as starting out... but with no money... best not add that to the list!

I'm the same as you Phil, i knew i could have faster success but i wanted to start my own team from scratch and i'm so glad i did. It was a long and slow process but it's been good fun and i'm not solidly in amongst the established teams. Depending which division 2 you end up in, you'll either be (likely) kicked straight back down to division 3, or should be comfortable until you can get yourself established.

There are also some division 3 teams who would be good for new players, but the managers are currently still assigned, i don't know if/when they are removed, but off the top of my head R3 should be good, Warp Engine Racing too.
