LONG TEST
Headline:
Test release: long-form formatting check, please ignore
Body:
Paragraph 1. This is the opening paragraph of a longer test release. It exists to check how the editor handles a full-length piece rather than a handful of single lines. A typical Murray Ledger race report runs between five hundred and eight hundred words, so this test needs enough body text to show whether the page remains readable once the paragraphs stack up.
Paragraph 2. The previous test showed that bold, italic, links, block quotes and images survive the paste. What did not survive was the empty line between paragraphs. In a short test that is a cosmetic issue. In a long report it turns the text into a single grey block, and readers tend to give up on grey blocks somewhere around the second safety car.
Paragraph 3. This paragraph contains a bold phrase in the middle of a sentence, an italic phrase used the way a team radio message would be quoted, and a link to the Pitwall Times. None of this should affect the spacing, but it is worth checking that inline formatting does not create extra line breaks either.
Murray Ledger: This line imitates an interview question. It is longer than the first test to see how a question that wraps over two lines looks with a bold speaker label at the start.
Philip E.: This line imitates an answer. It is deliberately long as well, because interview answers in these releases tend to run on, wander off and come back to the point only when someone asks the same question a second time.
Murray Ledger: A second, shorter question.
Philip E.: A second, shorter answer.
Paragraph 4. Back to normal body text after the interview block. If the spacing is collapsed, this is where it will be most visible: the transition from a sequence of short interview lines back into a full paragraph.
This is a block quote placed in the middle of a long text. It should stand out from the surrounding paragraphs.
Paragraph 5. This paragraph follows the block quote directly. Check whether there is any gap between the quote and this line, or whether they sit flush against each other.

Paragraph 6. This paragraph follows the image. In the first test the closing paragraph sat directly against the bottom edge of the picture. Note whether that happens again.
Paragraph 7. Manual spacing test: after pasting, place the cursor at the end of this paragraph and press Enter once more, so that there is an extra empty line before paragraph 8. Leave the gap between paragraphs 6 and 7 untouched. Comparing the two gaps in the published view shows whether a manual empty line survives.
Paragraph 8. This is the line that should, if the manual fix works, be separated from paragraph 7 by visible white space.
Paragraph 9. Closing paragraph. If everything above arrives as intended, the format rule can be finalised. If not, the fallback is shorter paragraphs and more frequent block quotes or interview breaks to give the eye somewhere to rest.
